Cafe culture in Korea: Hello Kitty cafe and Cafe Drama

Finally, I shall introduce the last 2 cafes that I have been to during my trip~~

3) Hello Kitty Cafe

I know a lot of blogs have already introduced Hello Kitty cafe so I’ll just cut it short!

Its a double storey pink cafe located in Hongdae! The building itself is already cuteeeeIMG_0899

Not only the latte but the cakes are also Hello Kittified lol, its a cafe that no Hello Kitty fan doesnt know!

4) Cafe Drama

Who loves to play dress up?

At this cafe… you can dress up as drama characters from 주몽 Jumong, 궁 goong etc. mostly historical-type drama.

There are also wedding dresses for couples to choose from.

and so…. i chose a princess hanbok. Of course… it isnt cheap. The rental for this hanbok is 45000won inclusive of shoes and hair styling. On top of that I need to pay for a compulsory drink too :S

Oh… I refused to let the person style my hair because i wanted to keep my fringe. lol, and now i kinda regret it :S

But its worth it! The Hanbok (traditional korean costume) is really beautiful and whole cafe is filled with different background themes for you to take photos, photos and more photos!

One disadvantage for this cafe is… they will only take a few shots for you with your own camera. Professional photography will cost you like 100,000won? I forgot the pricing but I know its extremely costly. I went there alone…. so I really had a hard time finding angles to take pictures of myself. At this moment…. I spotted a Japanese who was also alone. So we became friends and started helping each other take pictures haha.

We had huge communication problem because she could only speak Japanese. So we used a lot of hand signs and basic word by word English to communicate. We even went shopping together after that. Haha i really love traveling alone. You met all sorts of people and problems along the way but its exciting and always full of surprises!

2) Capi Capi Loom Loom (Rilakkuma cafe)

So…. what is Rilakkuma?!

Rilakkuma is a soft toy character from Japan!! The name given… actually means relax bear. lol

It is also under the same company (San-X)  as Hello Kitty .

Although this cafe is not an official Rilakkuma cafe every corner of this cafe is placed with Rilakkuma merchandises, soft toys and friends of Rilakkuma. Totally overload with cuteness!!

You must remove your shoes before entering the comfortable platform inside the cafe. Students are seen studying there and staying at the cafe for long hours to cuddle lol. because this cafe is seriously too cozy!! A great place to hang out with friends or simply study!

This cafe is located near sungshin womens university subway line 4 exit 1 !

This is their official blog (korean language only) Capi Capi Loom Loom Cafe <– click for more pictures~

Cafe culture in Korea: Pet cafe

1) Pet cafe : Dog cafe , cat cafe

2) Capi Capi loom loom: Rilakkuma Cafe

3) Hello Kitty Cafe

4) Drama cafe

Korea have the most unique and interesting cafe (in the world..?)

1) Pet cafe ~~

So far I have been to all these cafes listed above in Korea and my best choice is still dog’s cafe although im in love with all of them! I have been to more than 4 pet cafes in just 2 weeks lol.

Image

My favourite one is located in downtown Daegu, because its a 2-in-1 cafe! You just need to purchase a drink at 8000won and you can visit both the cat and dog cafe~~ if my memory is still working well. I think dog cafe is at level 2 and cat cafe at level 1 😀

Image

The dogs are really friendly and there are bound to be 3-4dogs wanting to catch your attention. When you are seated, they will just climb up to your lap so that you can pat and stroke them. It will then be a good photo opportunity hehe and on top of that they are reallyyyyy cute!

See what i mean!! After that day, I realise i’m more of a dog person. ^^

PS, that day was the first time that I am not afraid of dogs.. at ALL!

Tip: Language might be an issue in Korea, so if you are looking for pet cafes do look out for words like 고양이 (cat) or 강아지 / 개 (dog) 카페 (cafe)
