Polite Koreans

I am actually very impressed by how Polite Koreans are.

I don’t know maybe not all of them, but their culture shapes them to how they are like now.

Just by hearing how they speak shows how polite they actually are. However the 존대말 honorific part is the hardest to learn in Korean. Thats what I felt as it is also not commonly used to anyone.

I think that Korean language is really appealing to the ears too, not sure if this is a bias comment but I really like to listen to how they speak. King Sejong is the man!! He is the one who created Hangul by the way~ ^^

Here are some examples and common mistake in존대말

To Sleep: 자다 → 주무시다 [자다 and 주무시다 have the same meaning just that 자다 is commonly used with people of all ages whereas 주무시다 is used on someone whom you repect greatly like your grandparents, teacher etc.

To Eat:

자다 and 먹다 are actually the basic form of the word. If you want to form it into sentences you have to change it to other forms, like, 자요 / 먹어요

Internet Lingo – Singaporean Version

NOTE: Some of the “hokkien” words might be considered rude, so use carefully!  🙂

This are those which are more commonly used:

-Arrow (Being tasked to do something, usually undesirable)

-Beo (Hokkien: Peep) *Usually used as Beo Char Bo: Peeping at girls (Char bo)

-BB (Bye bye)

-BFF (Best friends forever)

-BRB (Be right back)

-BTH (Hokkien – Buay Tahan: Cannot take it anymore)

-Catch no ball (I don’t get it, I don’t understand)

-CMI (Cannot make it)

-Diam (Malay: Keep quiet, shut up *possibly rude*)

-Di Siao (Hokkien: to disturb/tease in a bad way)

-Emo (Emotional)

-FT (Foreign Talent: *Also could be a way of Sarcasm*)

-HL (Hokkien- Hao Lian: Be proud)

-Hum Ji (Hokkien: Scardy cat, chicken out, afraid, no guts)

-Jia Lat (Hokkien: Oh No! , very serious)

-Lol (Laugh out loud)

-Lup Sup (Hokkien: Dirty)

-OMG (Oh My God)

-Pek Chek (Hokkien: Frustrated)

-Paiseh (Hokkien: Aplogise with embarassment)

-Siam (Hokkien: Get Lost, Make way)

-Talk Cock (Talk Rubbish, Nonsense)

-Wols (Slow)

-Yo! (Greeting: Hello, Hi, Hey)

If you can understand 90% and above for the above shortcuts/word I trust that you can 100% Singaporean/Malaysian hahaha I believe some foreigners might not be able to understand what we are typing most of the time as we tend to use a lot of Singlish, Hokkien (Dialect), pin yin (Chinese), malay and internet lingos which is not commonly seen in their country I guess.

I have actually wondered at this word before “Wols” which was actually being spelt backwards. Slow -> Wols

I seriously wonder who invented this, haha but this is in the list which I would like to share.

Learning Korean Journey

What drive me to my interest and passion in Korean Language is actually influenced by Korean Dramas.

When Cable TV became popular few years back is where I first catch my first Korean Drama titled Glass Shoes [유리구두] which was actually broadcast in 2002, can imagine how old I am right now ><”

However I was only able to afford to attend lessons when I was 19 which is 3 years ago from now! I attended the first korean lesson in a community centre in Singapore and learnt the basics of 한글 from a Native Korean. It is fated that the class that I attended was actually the last class. Thereafter, I have stopped learning for about 2 years before I started back on track again.

Able to converse in Korean with the Native Korean is one of my dreams!

So I realised I have to do something about it and began searching online for Korean Courses in Singapore. Since I am already a working adult, I could afford to attend the classes now. 😀

I came across Hanok Korean Class online and headed down for a trail lesson. It was indeed fun and interesting so i decided to restart my Korean learning journey there.

The class size is about 12 pax max, 2hours per lesson. Games, presentations make us remember the vocabs and spelling is given everyday.

I never failed to attend any lessons so far, to think about it I have attended 36 lessons so far! Although 선생님 is a Singaporean, I believe she taught better than any Native Korean!

You can look for her classes here http://www.hanokkoreanclass.com/p/find-me.html

Unfortunately, I guess Level 4 is her final class.

#1 I am going Crazy – SE7EN

My first K-Pop post would be my  current favourite!

I am going Crazy – SE7EN

[Music Video]

I like SE7EN’s hairstyle in this MV!

The background of the video is going backwards and I really like the effect.

Here we go again

I don’t know what to do

You never listen
날 믿지 않아 No~

I’m going crazy crazy
이 사랑 속에 we just going crazy
That I did u wrong
I don’t know what to do
널 믿지 않아 No
I’m going crazy crazy
이 사랑 속에 we just going crazy
Goodbye
I‘m going crazy crazy
We just going crazy

[English Translation]

I really have no clue
I can’t take this anymore
Really, I’m going crazy

(oh~ no, no~
yeah, yeah~ oh~)

I’m a person who never starts to apologize
I’ll shout even louder at you every time (here we go again)
There’s no way to stop our madness
I don’t know what to do
I don’t even know why we started this

No matter what I say now
You won’t listen
You don’t believe me (no~)
The love in our hearts when we first met
Where has it gone to?
Have we gotten rid of it?

I dislike how our love has changed
I’m tired of repeating our arguments everyday
Much worse than when we’re alone
Being stuck in an endless time
I don’t want to blame you for that
I guess we are going crazy~

I’m going crazy, crazy
In our love, we just going crazy

I said, we are over
But that’s not what my heart wants to say
Sitting and hesitating for what I said
For a moment, I was like an idiot regretting (that I did you wrong)
We are both going to get hurt everyday
I don’t know what to do
I don’t even know why we started this relationship

No matter what I say now
You won’t listen (you never listen)
You don’t believe me (no~)
The love in our hearts when we first met
Where has it gone to?
Have we gotten rid of it?

I dislike how our love has changed
I’m tired of repeating out arguments everyday
Much worse than when we were alone
Being stuck in an endless time
I don’t want to blame you for that
I guess we are going crazy~

I’m going crazy, crazy
In our love, we just going crazy

I can do it
There is nothing that can drive me insane
I’m still loving you
My tears are still no enough
Even when it’s hurting a lot
I’ll try finding my way back, goodbye~

I dislike how our love has changed
I’m tired of repeating our arguments everyday
Much worse than when we were alone
Being stuck in an endless time
I don’t want to blame you for that
I guess we’re going crazy

I’m going crazy, crazy
In our love, we just going crazy
